Moldova Finds Russian Drone Debris After Five UAVs Cross Its Airspace During Strikes on Ukraine
Moldova says five Russian attack drones crossed its airspace during strikes on Ukraine, leaving debris across four districts and damaging a farm facility near Crocmaz.
Russian attack drones aimed at Ukraine again crossed into Moldovan airspace and left debris on the ground, underlining the risk to a neighbouring state that is not part of the fighting.
Moldovan authorities confirmed that five Russian unmanned aerial vehicles entered the country’s airspace between 07:45 and 08:00. Afterward, debris was found at several locations.
Fragments were discovered near Căușeni, in Dubovca in Hîncești district, near Crocmaz in Ștefan Vodă, and between Delacău and Puhăceni in Anenii Noi.
Near Crocmaz, an explosion in a vineyard caused a vegetation fire and damaged windows at a nearby agricultural facility, according to preliminary reports. There were no details of injuries in the available information.
The incident highlights how large‑scale drone strikes on Ukraine can affect rural communities in Moldova, where farmers and agricultural sites are dealing with blast damage from weapons not intended for them.
It also shows how Russia’s high‑volume use of unmanned systems near borders can produce repeated airspace violations and debris incidents in neighbouring countries.
Signals to track now include any diplomatic steps Chisinau takes toward Moscow, any new measures to monitor or protect Moldovan airspace, and further official updates on damage and clean‑up at the affected sites.
