SPLM/RSF Break Through on Sudan’s Blue Nile Front, Seizing Locality and Base on Sali Axis

Forces from the SPLM and Rapid Support Forces have captured a locality and its base on the Sali axis in Sudan’s Blue Nile region after two weeks of attacks, opening the way toward Dindiro on a key front in the civil war.

An offensive along the Sali axis in Sudan’s Blue Nile region has broken through Sudanese army lines and handed a new position to forces aligned with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement and the Rapid Support Forces.

Battlefield reports say that over the last two weeks, SPLM/RSF units have mounted repeated attacks along this route. On Tuesday morning they were reported to have overrun Sudanese Armed Forces defenses, taking control of a locality and its associated military base.

The captured site lies on a route toward Dindiro, giving the attacking forces a new staging point for further advances. From the seized base they can expand operations deeper into the Blue Nile area.

This front has drawn less international attention than some other parts of Sudan’s civil war, but its geography matters. Control along the Sali axis shapes who can move troops and supplies toward Dindiro and influences the wider balance of power in the region.

For the Sudanese army, the loss of a locality and base complicates efforts to hold a coherent line. It may force a redistribution of units or a decision on whether to organize a counterattack to retake the position.

For communities in and around the captured area, the change of control brings the fighting closer and raises the risk of further clashes as SPLM/RSF units consolidate their gains or push onward.

Key developments to watch now include any Sudanese Armed Forces attempt to reverse the loss, signs that SPLM/RSF formations are moving from the new position toward Dindiro, and whether the Blue Nile front draws greater attention in ceasefire or negotiation efforts.
