Russian and Ukrainian drones hit cities, power, and logistics sites from Kharkiv to Luhansk and Rivne

Russian Geran drones struck multiple districts in Kharkiv and a truck parking lot in Rivne Oblast, while Ukrainian drones hit targets in and around Luhansk City and were reported heading toward the Moscow region, underscoring how deep strikes now reach well beyond the front lines.

Russian and Ukrainian forces used drones overnight to hit cities and infrastructure far from trench lines, from Kharkiv and Rivne inside Ukraine to occupied Luhansk and the wider Moscow region.

Russian forces continued their Geran‑2 and Geran‑4 drone attacks against Kharkiv Oblast last night. Reported targets included Industrialnyi, Saltivskyi, Kholodnohirs'kyi, and Nemyshlianskyi districts of Kharkiv City; the cities of Merefa and Zmiiv; and the town of Slobozhanske. A large fire was seen burning in Kharkiv following a strike on the Kholodnohirs'kyi District.

Farther west in Rivne Oblast, a Russian Geran‑4 or Geran‑5 jet‑drone strike hit a truck parking lot outside an enterprise in the city of Sarny. Images from the scene showed the aftermath in the parking area, indicating that parked vehicles and a rear‑area logistics site had been struck.

Ukraine maintained pressure with mid‑range drones against occupied Luhansk Oblast. Reporting described a large‑scale mid‑range drone strike campaign overnight. Two different unknown targets were hit in central Luhansk City near Hospital No. 7 and a parking lot near the central market, as well as in the southern suburbs of the city. Power outages occurred across almost all of southern Luhansk after the strikes.

In Russia, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that 613 drones were reportedly heading toward the Moscow region from the evening of 28 October through the morning of 29 October. He said the overnight attacks did not pass without consequences, though he did not specify all of them. A strike was reported in the Luhansk region, and smoke and explosions were reported in Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan. The drone figures cited by Sobyanin have not been independently verified.

Taken together, these attacks show Russia continuing to use Geran‑series drones against Ukrainian cities, industrial zones, and logistics hubs, while Ukraine employs mid‑range drones to hit occupied urban areas and disrupt power in Luhansk and to threaten Russian regions including the Moscow area.

Developments to watch include the pace and geographic spread of future Geran strikes inside Ukraine, any changes in Ukrainian drone activity against rear‑area logistics sites such as truck parks, and evidence of sustained damage to power infrastructure and services in and around Luhansk.
