Reported 613‑Drone Wave and Deep Strikes Stretch Russian Defenses From Moscow Region to Bashkortostan

A reported wave of 613 Ukrainian drones toward the Moscow region coincided with strikes in occupied Luhansk, a fire at an industrial plant in Bashkortostan, and a blaze at an airbase in Volgograd Oblast, pointing to a broad campaign against Russian military and industrial sites.

A large reported drone wave and multiple confirmed strikes on military and industrial sites have pushed the war deeper into Russian territory and occupied areas.

Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that from the evening of 28 October through the morning of 29 October, 613 drones were reportedly heading toward the Moscow region. He said the overnight attacks did not pass without consequences. In the same time frame, a strike was reported in the Luhansk region, and smoke and explosions were reported near the city of Sterlitamak in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Ukrainian long-range drones attacked the Bashkir Soda Company in Sterlitamak on the morning of 29 October, according to Ukrainian reporting. The strike triggered a large fire that continued to grow. The Bashkir Soda Company produces sodium carbonate and food-grade soda. Its products are used by enterprises affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defence to produce components used for the war effort.

Further west, satellite-based NASA FIRMS data indicated a large fire burning at Marinovka Airbase in Volgograd Oblast following overnight Ukrainian mid-range drone strikes. The base hosts Su‑24 and Su‑34 aircraft and has previously been hit by Ukrainian drones, which earlier damaged and destroyed four Su‑34s.

In occupied Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine continued a large-scale mid-range drone strike campaign. Drones hit two unknown targets in Luhansk city centre near Hospital No. 7 and a parking lot near the central market, as well as locations in the southern suburbs. Power outages were reported across almost all of southern Luhansk after these strikes.

The reported combination of a 613‑drone wave toward the Moscow region, an industrial fire in Bashkortostan, a blaze at an airbase in Volgograd Oblast, and blackouts across southern Luhansk suggests that Russian air defenses and critical infrastructure are under simultaneous pressure across a broad area.

Information to watch now includes Russian statements on the extent of damage at Bashkir Soda and Marinovka Airbase, further local reports from Luhansk and Sterlitamak, and any visible redeployment of Russian air-defense assets toward key military and industrial sites.
