Russian Geran-4 Drone Strikes Hit Epicentr Shopping Centre and Logistics Sites in Kharkiv Area
Russian Geran-4 jet drones struck the Epicentr shopping centre in Kharkiv and two logistics and distribution hubs in Kharkiv City and Vasyshcheve, with Moscow claiming the sites stored dual-purpose products for Ukraine’s military.
Russian Geran-4 jet drones struck an Epicentr shopping centre in Kharkiv City on 25 October, hitting a major retail site that Russia’s Defence Ministry claims was being used to store dual-purpose products for the Ukrainian military.
According to available reporting, the same wave of attacks also targeted two other logistics and distribution centres in Kharkiv City and in nearby Vasyshcheve. Russian officials framed the shopping complex and the additional sites as part of Ukraine’s military supply system.
Labeling a shopping centre and logistics hubs as storage points for dual-purpose items matters because it blurs the line between civilian and military space. If that description becomes standard in Russian targeting, large commercial warehouses and retail facilities across Ukraine could face similar strikes whenever Moscow argues that military-related goods are present.
Kharkiv has lived under regular fire since the first months of the full-scale invasion. Hits on a large Epicentr outlet and on distribution centres affect more than the immediate impact zones, because these buildings serve as nodes for moving goods into the city and surrounding areas.
The choice of Geran-4 jet drones reflects Russia’s continued use of unmanned systems to hit what it describes as logistics infrastructure. How Ukraine assesses the damage at Epicentr and the other struck facilities, and whether similar commercial and logistics sites are targeted again under the same "dual-purpose" rationale, will show whether this was a one-off operation or part of a broader campaign against Ukraine’s retail and distribution network.
