Sustained Geran drone assault kills three in Kirovohrad region and batters Ukraine’s logistics hubs
Ukrainian officials report that Kirovohrad region endured more than 10 hours of Geran drone attacks, leaving three dead, six injured and multiple industrial and transport sites damaged, as strikes also hit enterprises in Ternopil and Poltava regions.
A prolonged overnight drone barrage has turned Ukraine’s central regions into active targets, with authorities describing the strike on Kirovohrad as the largest Geran drone attack there since the start of the war.
Pro‑Ukrainian channels reported that Kirovohrad and surrounding areas were hit by hundreds of drones over more than 10 hours. The claimed total number of drones has not been independently verified, but Ukraine’s State Emergency Service says that in Kirovohrad region at least three people were killed and six injured.
Emergency officials report that, in the regional center, drones struck the territories of enterprises, logistics centers, warehouse facilities, residential buildings and nearby areas. The attacks sparked fires at several locations. In Kropyvnytskyi and the Novoukrainka district, objects of transport infrastructure were also damaged.
The overnight strikes were not limited to Kirovohrad. In Ternopil region, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said five people were injured when strike drones hit an enterprise in the Chortkiv area. In Poltava region, regional authorities recorded hits by enemy drones on two industrial enterprises in the Poltava and Myrhorod districts.
Ukraine’s military reports that its air defenses have recently shot down or suppressed 536 out of 580 hostile drones, as well as two Kh‑59 guided missiles. Even with high interception rates, the scale of attacks means some drones still reach their targets, as the damage across Kirovohrad, Ternopil and Poltava shows.
The pattern of impacts — hitting logistics centers, industrial plants and transport infrastructure — fits Russia’s ongoing effort to degrade Ukraine’s ability to move goods, military supplies and people between the west of the country and the eastern and southern fronts.
How quickly Ukraine can repair damaged infrastructure and whether it can reinforce air defenses in central regions will shape the impact of any repeat of this kind of mass Geran drone attack.
