Russian Geran Drones and KAB Glide‑Bombs Ignite Fires Across Multiple Ukrainian Cities Overnight

Russian forces struck Lviv, Rivne, Sarny, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and the Mykolaiv region overnight with Geran‑series drones and jet‑powered KAB glide‑bombs, triggering large fires and fresh explosions in areas far from the front line. The spread of targets underscores how Russia is using long‑range systems to pressure Ukraine’s rear cities and infrastructure.

Overnight reports from across Ukraine describe a broad Russian strike pattern that reached from the western borderlands to major cities in the centre and south.

In Lviv, in western Ukraine, explosions were reported beginning around 02:12 UTC as Russian Geran‑4/5 jet‑drones attacked the city. Follow‑on messages described repeated blasts and a large fire in Lviv City after the strikes.

Further north in Rivne Oblast, Russian Geran‑4/5 drones also hit the cities of Rivne and Sarny. The drones struck what were described as unknown enterprises, with large fires breaking out in both locations. The type of facilities affected and any casualties were not specified in the early reports.

Russian forces continued to use KAB glide‑bombs and drones against other key hubs. In Zaporizhzhia City, they again employed KAB glide‑bombs overnight, targeting an area near the southern outskirts where a fire was reported after the attack.

In the Mykolaiv region, a Geran drone strike hit near Voskresenske. Imagery showed the aftermath of the impact in that area, at coordinates 46.9976554, 32.1284008.

Dnipro came under a separate wave of attacks involving jet‑powered KAB glide‑bombs. Observers first reported more than six of these glide‑bombs flying toward the city, followed shortly by word of explosions in Dnipro. Within minutes, two more KABs were tracked approaching from the southeast, followed by another alert that two more were coming in over the southeastern suburbs. One of the explosions in Dnipropetrovsk was reported near the Southern Bridge at coordinates 48.4103, 35.0959.

The same night was described as one of the first in a long time without reports of any long‑range Ukrainian drone strikes, even as Russia pressed its own campaign with drones and glide‑bombs.

Taken together, the reported attacks highlight how Geran‑series drones and KAB glide‑bombs allow Russia to threaten distant cities, industrial sites, and transport links on a single night. The next signals to watch are official Ukrainian updates on damage and casualties, any changes in reported air‑defence deployments around the affected cities, and evidence of whether Russia continues this pattern of dispersed long‑range strikes in the coming days.
