Russian Drones and Glide Bombs Shut Dnieper Bridge in Zaporizhzhia, Leave Two Injured
A Russian attack with Geran drones and KAB glide-bombs hit a bridge over the Dnieper River and a petrol station in Zaporizhzhia on 6 October, injuring at least two people and stopping traffic across the bridge.
Traffic across a bridge over the Dnieper River in Zaporizhzhia is halted after a Russian strike damaged the crossing on the morning of 6 October, complicating movement through a region already under frequent attack.
Regional authorities reported that Russian forces hit Zaporizhzhia City with a combination of Geran-2 and Geran-4 drones and KAB glide-bombs. A bridge across the Dnieper and a petrol station were among the targets. According to local officials, at least two people were injured, and vehicle movement over the bridge was temporarily blocked because of the damage.
One of the Geran-2/4 drones struck the bridge itself, leaving a small crater on the roadway. That visible impact indicates localized damage, though engineers will have to determine when and under what conditions traffic can safely resume. Regional reporting said at least four Geran-2/4 drones and eight KAB glide-bombs were used in the attack.
In this strike, three of the KAB glide-bombs landed inside the city, while more than five others hit targets on the outskirts. The temporary bridge closure and the hit on a petrol station both underline how Russian long-range weapons continue to affect everyday routes and services for people living in Zaporizhzhia.
The next clear signal of impact will be how long authorities keep the bridge closed to traffic and whether any longer-term repairs are announced once damage assessments are complete.
