Russian Geran Drone Strikes Kill Teen in Kyiv and Hit Homes and Postal Logistics in Odesa Region

Russian Geran drones pounded targets across Ukraine overnight and into the morning of 25 September, killing a teenager in Kyiv, damaging homes and logistics sites in Odesa region, and hitting industrial facilities around the capital.
In Kyiv, the city military administration reported that a 14‑year‑old boy was killed by a Russian strike on the capital. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a drone hit a multi‑storey apartment building in the Pechersk district at the level of the seventh to tenth floors.
Russian Geran‑2 and Geran‑4 drones were reported over a wide area. Explosions were heard in or near Reni and Velykyi Dal’nyk in Odesa Oblast; Odesa City; Voznesensk and Mykolaiv City in Mykolaiv Oblast; Heikivka, Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; and Zaporizhzhia. In Zaporizhzhia City, Russia carried out at least five Geran‑2/4 strikes, primarily on the northern suburbs, causing fires.
Odesa region came under what Ukrainian officials described as a series of massive strikes. The attacks hit the residential sector and logistics premises belonging to a postal operator. One person was killed and another injured. Regional authorities said the targets included housing and the operator’s storage facilities.
The wider Kyiv region was also hit. Ukrainian officials reported attacks on three districts around the capital. In the Boryspil area, a woodworking enterprise was struck and caught fire. In the Brovary area, a warehouse building was damaged. In the Obukhiv area, three private houses and four cars were damaged.
Inside Kyiv, Russian Geran‑4 jet‑drone strikes damaged industrial buildings in the Solomyanskyi and Podilskyi districts overnight. The attack on the Pechersk residential building followed in the morning, adding a high‑profile civilian casualty to an already heavy night of strikes on the capital’s industrial sites.
Ukraine’s air defences reported one of their most intense nights of activity. According to the military, 267 out of 295 Russian drones were shot down or suppressed. Even with that interception rate, authorities recorded impacts from air‑attack weapons at 16 locations, as well as debris from downed drones falling at four additional sites.
The raids forced fresh tests of Ukraine’s ability to protect cities, industrial hubs and logistics nodes simultaneously. How quickly damaged housing, warehouses, the woodworking enterprise near Boryspil and the postal operator’s facilities in Odesa region can return to normal use will be an early indicator of the lasting impact from this round of strikes, along with any shifts in Russian targeting toward ports, energy infrastructure or other logistics assets.
