Russian Drones and Glide Bombs Hit Warehouses Near Kyiv and Shopping Centres in Zaporizhzhia
Russian Geran drones and KAB glide bombs set fire to warehouse facilities near Kyiv and two shopping centres in Zaporizhzhia overnight, even as Ukrainian air defences reported downing most incoming drones.
Russian overnight strikes again pushed the war into civilian commercial areas, with warehouse facilities near Kyiv and shopping centres in Zaporizhzhia hit by drones and guided bombs and large fires reported at several sites.
In Kyiv Oblast, Russia continued its Geran‑4 jet‑drone campaign against targets around the capital. Reporting from the region said a warehouse facility in the city of Boyarka was hit, causing a large fire. The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that a gas distribution station in Boyarka was also struck; that claim has not been independently confirmed.
Further east in Kyiv Oblast, drones attacked a logistics warehouse in the town of Shchaslyve (also rendered Schastlyve), south of Kyiv. Footage from the area showed a warehouse burning, and geolocated material placed the fire near 50.3779°N, 30.78°E. Earlier reports said Geran drones were used and noted that NASA satellite data recorded fire anomalies at roughly the same coordinates, indicating significant burning at the site.
In Zaporizhzhia city, Russian forces used a mix of Geran‑2/4 drones and KAB glide bombs against urban targets. Around six Geran‑2/4 drones were reported in the attack on two different shopping centres, where large fires broke out after the strikes. Another two to three drones targeted an unspecified site in the southern suburbs of Zaporizhzhia. Four KAB glide bombs hit an unknown target in the northwestern part of the city. Initial reports did not provide details on casualties or the exact nature of the facility struck in the northwest.
National reporting from the same period described a broad Russian drone assault, with 172 drones launched across Ukraine and 147 reportedly shot down or electronically suppressed. Even so, confirmed impacts were recorded at 14 locations, and debris from downed drones fell on four additional sites.
How authorities and businesses respond will depend on the scale of damage at the Boyarka and Shchaslyve warehouses and the Zaporizhzhia shopping centres. Signals to watch include reports of disrupted fuel or goods supplies, the reopening or closure of affected commercial sites, and any shift in Russia’s targeting pattern toward—or away from—urban commercial hubs.
