Russia Reports 306 Ukrainian Drones Downed as Strikes Hit Mariupol Mall and Perm Building

Russia says it faced a large Ukrainian drone attack overnight, claiming to have destroyed hundreds of drones even as reported impacts set fires and damaged civilian sites.
On 7 September, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that air defenses shot down 306 Ukrainian drones over several regions. According to available reports, there were also consequences on the ground: in Perm, a drone crashed into a residential building, and in Mariupol, the Galaktika shopping mall was attacked, causing a major fire.
The ministry did not provide a regional breakdown of interceptions in the material at hand, and no casualty figures were reported from Perm or Mariupol.
The incidents show that, despite Russia’s claims of extensive interceptions, Ukrainian drones are still reaching built-up areas in both Russian territory and occupied Ukrainian cities.
For residents, this means that even cities far from the front, such as Perm, and heavily damaged occupied cities like Mariupol remain at risk from falling debris or direct hits.
