Russian Strikes Destroy Nova Poshta Sorting Centers and Warehouses in Kyiv Region and Sumy
Russian overnight strikes on 28 August destroyed Nova Poshta sorting centers in Sumy and Kyiv Oblast and damaged warehouses in Sviatopetrivske, according to local officials and the company.
Russian overnight strikes on 28 August hit some of Ukraine’s busiest civilian logistics hubs, damaging key nodes in the country’s parcel and freight network.
Local authorities in Kyiv Oblast said Russian fire struck Nova Poshta warehouses and a nearby production facility in Sviatopetrivske, part of the Bilohorodka community west of the capital. The village head described a heavy night for the community, citing direct impacts on the company’s storage buildings.
Nova Poshta separately reported that its sorting centers in both Sumy and Kyiv regions were destroyed during the same mass overnight attack. The company operates Ukraine’s largest private postal and parcel network, serving households, businesses, and volunteer groups across the country.
Fires from the Sviatopetrivske strikes were large enough to appear as heat anomalies on NASA’s FIRMS satellite map, with coordinates showing damage across a cluster of warehouse buildings at 50.3712, 30.322. Other reports indicated that Russian Geran‑4 jet‑powered drones set at least two warehouse sites ablaze in the southwestern suburbs of Kyiv around the same time, at coordinates 50.370963, 30.319242 and 50.368330, 30.319452.
Nova Poshta’s facilities handle consumer parcels, business inventories, and humanitarian shipments. Destroying its sorting hubs and warehouses disrupts deliveries for families and firms and complicates the movement of supplies that volunteer groups and units order from across the country.
For residents, the attacks mean longer delays and greater uncertainty over whether critical items will arrive. Small businesses that depend on fast, predictable deliveries face losses as shipments are rerouted or interrupted. Employees at affected hubs now confront damaged or destroyed workplaces.
The strikes fit into a wider pattern of Russian attacks on warehouse clusters and logistics complexes around Kyiv and its region. Reports on 28 August pointed to at least eight different warehouse facilities hit by Geran‑4 drones across Kyiv City and Kyiv Oblast, resulting in several large fires, including in the Brovary and Boryspil areas, in addition to earlier strikes on logistics infrastructure in Vyshneve and the Brovary district.
Upcoming signs to watch include how Nova Poshta restores operations after the destruction of its sorting centers in Sumy and Kyiv regions, whether more dispersed facilities are used to reduce risk, and whether further Russian strikes target other major logistics brands.
