Ukraine Intelligence: No Peace Talks Before 2027 as Russia Pushes to Take Donetsk

Ukraine’s military intelligence service says it sees no signs Russia is preparing for a ceasefire or real negotiations before the end of 2026, warning that Moscow aims to capture all of Donetsk region this year. Ukraine’s spy chiefs are telling their own public and foreign backers to brace for a war measured in years, not months. In comments made public on 18 August, the deputy head of Ukraine’s military intelligence directorate said there are no battlefield indicators that Russia intends to seek a ceasefire or enter what he called “normal negotiations” before the end of 2026.
