Ukraine’s Drones Cripple Wildberries Logistics, Turning Russia’s E‑Commerce Giant Into a Wartime Target

Activists tracking the campaign say 62% of the company’s key warehouse area has now been destroyed and another quarter damaged, turning Russia’s largest online retailer into a high-impact pressure point in Ukraine’s drone war.

Russia’s largest online retailer is discovering what it means to become a strategic asset in a long war. Overnight, FP-1 drones hit one of Wildberries’ biggest logistics hubs in Aleksin, Tula region, burning down a sorting center spanning roughly 190,000 square meters, according to wartime monitoring groups.

Video and imagery from the scene show a vast warehouse complex engulfed in flames, with its roof collapsed over much of the footprint. The attack, attributed to Ukrainian unmanned systems by pro-Ukrainian cyber activists, marks what those trackers say is at least the 13th Wildberries warehouse destroyed since the start of a focused strike campaign against the e-commerce giant’s logistics network.

A group calling itself CyberBoroshno, which has been mapping the damage, estimates that of Wildberries’ 25 main logistics facilities, about 62.1% of total warehouse area has now been destroyed, 24.5% damaged, and only 13.4% remains untouched. While these figures cannot be independently verified, they align with a steady drip of fire reports and satellite imagery showing repeated hits on large distribution centers across European Russia.

For warehouse workers, delivery drivers, and customers across Russia, the impact is no longer abstract. Each destroyed hub means lost jobs, delayed or canceled shipments, and disrupted income for the small businesses that depend on Wildberries as a sales platform. In a country where online retail has become a critical part of everyday life from Moscow to remote regions, burning down sorting centers is not just damaging a corporation; it is fraying a piece of civilian infrastructure.

Operationally, targeting Wildberries makes strategic sense for Ukraine. The company’s logistics backbone—vast warehouses, sorting lines, and truck fleets—mirrors the infrastructure used to move goods for the Russian state and its military. Disrupting that system imposes costs on the civilian economy while forcing Russia to devote air defenses and security resources to assets far from the front.

There is also a political dimension. Wildberries and its peers are high-visibility symbols of Russia’s consumer modernity, often touted as proof that life remains normal despite sanctions and war. Turning those purple-branded hubs into charred shells sends a domestic message that the conflict is not confined to far-off trenches in Donbas or Kharkiv, but is beginning to eat into the conveniences and expectations of middle-class life inside Russia.

From Kyiv’s perspective, drones striking logistics centers in Tula, Moscow region and beyond achieve several objectives at once: they raise the insurance and security costs of doing business in Russia; they complicate any attempt by the Kremlin to reroute supply chains away from sanctioned Western partners; and they demonstrate to Russian elites and consumers that economic insulation from the war is wearing thin.

The deeper insight is that in a country as digitized and delivery-dependent as Russia has become, e-commerce warehouses double as critical infrastructure—even if they never appear on official lists of military or strategic targets.

Key developments to watch are whether Russia publicly acknowledges the cumulative damage to Wildberries, whether the company can rapidly rebuild or shift operations to less vulnerable sites, and if Ukrainian planners expand this model of pressure to other logistics-heavy giants such as grocery chains, postal services, or rail cargo yards, further blending the line between economic disruption and battlefield effect.
