**Deck**: Kirovohrad region endured what local officials called the largest Geran drone attack since the start of the war, with hundreds reportedly launched over more than 10 hours, killing at least three people and injuring six, while separate strikes in Ternopil and Poltava regions damaged enterprises and wounded five more.

A night of heavy drone strikes has pushed the war deeper into Ukraine’s industrial heartland.

Local authorities in Kirovohrad region said they faced the largest Geran drone attack since the invasion began, with reports of hundreds of drones launched and strikes continuing for more than 10 hours.

The State Emergency Service reported that in the regional centre, drones hit the territories of enterprises, logistics centres, warehouse facilities, residential buildings and nearby yards. The impacts sparked fires at several sites. In Kropyvnytskyi and Novoukrainka districts, transport infrastructure facilities were also struck.

At least three people were killed and six injured in Kirovohrad region, according to emergency services.

National figures released by Ukrainian authorities for the same night point to an even broader campaign. They said Russian forces launched 580 strike drones and two Kh‑59 guided missiles countrywide. Air defences shot down or suppressed 536 of those drones, but officials still recorded direct hits in 31 locations and debris from downed drones falling on 11 others.

Other regions were hit alongside Kirovohrad. In Ternopil region, emergency services said strike drones wounded five people and damaged an enterprise in Chortkiv district. In Poltava region, regional authorities reported impacts on two industrial enterprises in the Poltava and Myrhorod districts.

These attacks extend a pattern of Russian strikes aimed at logistics, energy, transport and industrial facilities across central Ukraine, targeting both economic activity and the infrastructure that feeds military supply lines.

In Kyiv region, footage circulated purporting to show the moment of a strike, and officials said air defence forces were operating over the capital, urging residents to stay in safe locations while they assessed damage.

The coming days will show how quickly damaged enterprises and transport infrastructure can be brought back online, whether Russia maintains similar volumes of drone launches against central regions, and how Ukraine adjusts its air defence deployments in response to repeated large‑scale attacks.
